In addition to providing convenience during what may be a very stressful and overwhelming time for parents of newborns, home consultations offer the very best setting for me to observe your baby’s natural breastfeeding patterns and then identify and address your unique challenges. My goal is to make the most of our time together by ensuring that you and your little one are as comfortable as possible.

To address your specific needs, I offer three types of private, in-home consultations:

  • Initial Consultation
  • Follow-Up Consultation
  • Back-to-Work Consultation
Initial Consultation
› Visit is scheduled in advance and typically lasts 90 minutes.
› Baby is weighed initially to assess growth pattern and throughout feeding to assess milk transfer.
› Baby’s oral anatomy and mother’s breasts are examined for abnormalities.

› Feeding is observed; positioning and baby’s latch and suck are assessed and adjusted as needed.
› Pumping and bottle-feeding instructions are given if needed.
› Mother’s questions and concerns are addressed.
› Mother receives a comprehensive breastfeeding plan.
› A detailed report is sent to the physician(s) of mother and/or baby.
› Mother receives a follow-up call within 2-3 days to address any further concerns.

Consultation cost is $200 ($250 for twins).

If you are using Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois PPO or Cigna or United Multiplan plans, you are eligible to receive direct coverage at 100%. Otherwise, payment is due in full at the time of service, with a Superbill issued for submission to your insurance provider in order to seek reimbursement. Under the Affordable Care Act, women’s preventive healthcare, including comprehensive lactation support and counseling by a trained provider, is covered in full. However, reimbursement amount varies and is not guaranteed. Please contact your insurance provider to verify benefits.

› Mother’s questions and concerns are addressed.
› Mother receives an updated comprehensive breastfeeding plan.
› A detailed report is sent to the physician(s) of mother and/or baby.
› Mother receives a follow-up call within 2-3 days to address any further concerns.
